Dorje Dolma – Dandelions Class Assistant Teacher

Dorje is an early childhood educator, the author of Yak Girl: Growing Up in the Remote Dolpo Region of Nepal, and a visual artist. She was born in the Dolpo region of Nepal, which resides at an elevation of 13,000 feet, and spent her early childhood herding goats, sheep, horses, and yaks while protecting them from wolves and snow leopards.

She has lived in Boulder for almost thirty years and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Studio Arts degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and completed the Introduction to Early Childhood Education, and Expanding Quality in Infant Toddler Initiative (EQIT) courses at Front Range Community College.

She taught children ages one to three at The Elm Tree in Boulder for eight years, toured internationally for her memoir, Yak Girl, and gave presentations in Europe, Nepal, Canada, and the United States at secondary schools, senior living centers, universities, libraries, conferences, bookstores, and organizations. She also volunteers for a Canada-based nonprofit supporting schools and greenhouse projects in Dolpo, Nepal.

Dorje enjoys leading nature-inspired arts and crafts workshops for children, hiking, gardening, cooking, writing, and making art and jewelry. She is excited to join the toddler program at Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten as an Assistant Teacher!
