Nora Sons – Buttercups Class Assistant Teacher

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Nora holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology from Wayne State University. She brings valuable experience from multiple educational settings, including three years at a Montessori preschool and research work with the University of Denver’s Morgridge College of Education, where she assisted in classroom observations focused on early math instruction. Earlier in life, she also experienced the Waldorf approach as a student herself, attending from kindergarten through second grade.

Her teaching journey includes time at Gateway Montessori House in Birmingham, Michigan, where she worked in the aftercare program with children ages 18 months to 6 years. In this role, she supported children’s learning and social growth by guiding, supervising, and modeling values of respect, kindness, honesty, and accountability, all while maintaining a safe and engaging classroom environment.

Inspired by her own Waldorf teachers, who nurtured her curiosity and gave her a deep sense of belonging during her early years, Nora is passionate about fostering confidence in children’s unique identities. She hopes to provide the same encouragement and guidance that she once received, helping her students celebrate their individuality and feel supported as they grow.

Outside of the classroom, she enjoys amateur weightlifting, community service and activism, reading “banned books,” and soaking up the Colorado sunshine.
