Tess Hamilton – Lavenders Class Afternoon Teacher

Tess recently joined us from Maine where she was building and facilitating outdoor leadership curriculum at Bowdoin College.  Tess is thrilled to join the BWK community combining her experiences working with children and interest in furthering her own understanding of the Waldorf philosophy that resonates deeply with her own upbringing and approach to life.

Tess grew up in a housing cooperative set in the mountains and rivers of New Hampshire where she founded her appreciation for the natural landscape and place-based education.   At Bowdoin College, she studied Visual Arts and Earth Sciences with an emphasis on climate science, wooden boat building, and large oil landscape paintings.  Since graduation, Tess has travelled across the globe on a Watson Fellowship, which entailed a year of solo travel dedicated to understanding the social ecology of home; child-rearing, elder-care, and sustainable architecture.

Tess enjoys long runs and cross-country skis, painting, cultivating, harvesting and cooking good food, and discovering new music.
